Rethinking Construction Waste Management in Massachusetts

Massachusetts

Linnean provided consulting services to the Center for EcoTechnology (CET), under contract to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection to develop more sustainable and efficient recycling plans for construction and demolition waste. The first construction project that was considered is a single-building rehabilitation on a higher education campus. The overarching goal was to develop waste management efficiency guidelines that can be seamlessly integrated into similar future construction and demolition projects.

Linnean consulted on construction projects over 3 years. The projects involved working with the primary construction and design teams to envision ways to radically reduce construction waste on each project and then writing specifications for managing waste materials, generating a Waste Management Plan, guiding communication between all contractors, and compiling and reporting on all waste metrics for the project.
