3 Boston Way (Passive House)

3 Boston Way is a 84-unit multifamily building located in Newburyport, Massachusetts. This project showcases the pinnacle of energy-conscious construction and operation, meeting the rigorous standards set by PHIUS. With its meticulously crafted airtight envelope, advanced insulation, and high-performance windows, 3 Boston Way ensures exceptional thermal comfort and minimal energy consumption year-round.

Linnean served as the Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC) for this project and worked together with GSD Associates, LLC to create the energy model and make sure the project met all PHIUS requirements. Linnean also provided thermal bridging simulation in the form of THERM modeling to advise the design team on how to best deal with difficult details, such as the connection of an uninsulated concrete column with the residential floor slab.
