NYC Housing Deep Material Vetting

New York City, NY

Linnean provided sustainability consulting services to a developer in New York City, by evaluating and vetting hundreds of building products. The project goals included enhancing occupant health through improved material and product selection. Linnean researched more than thirty ‘Priority Material’ categories, some of which included overall material health impact (i.e. VOC content, formaldehyde content, etc.), product transparency, material certifications, recycled content, and manufacturing location. The material vetting research process provided the client with a more comprehensive understanding of current industry standards, which allowed the design team to better evaluate the feasibility of integrating products that meet higher health and sustainability thresholds.

After completing the material and product vetting process, Linnean then integrated the research findings directly into the project documents, which set specific thresholds for each priority material for health and sustainability.
