Medford Climate Action and Adaptation Plan

Medford, MA

Following the completion of the city’s Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment (January 2019), Linnean worked with the City of Medford on the development of its Climate Action and Adaptation Plan. This process involved a diversity of outreach activities to bring community input and expertise into the plan, including four working groups with city staff and residents to develop and refine strategies across the plan’s four focus areas, city staff interviews, an equity training and workshop to ensure the climate strategies advance equity in Medford, a bilingual community dinner centered on storytelling around what’s required to build community resilience,

and a working group focused on developing ongoing climate planning processes that center equity and the lived experiences of low-income and BIPOC residents in Medford in the implementation of the plan. All of these components have contributed to a community-driven roadmap for a just, resilient, and low-carbon city.
