Hillside Center for Sustainable Living (LEED Consulting)

The Hillside Center for Sustainable Living in Newburyport, Massachusetts is an ambitious high-performance development that is taking sustainability to the next level. A former dump, the site is being converted to 48 residential units that will exceed LEED Platinum and Passive House standards. Linnean is the LEED for Homes Provider, supporting the team with the certification process.
Linnean also served as the Waste Management Consultant through Recycling Works, where the project earned a grant from MassDEP and was able to set up many alternative waste mitigation processes. In particular, the project utilized recycled materials from the local bridge deconstruction as filler, and separated many types of waste on-site (cardboard, steel, concrete, food waste, gypsum etc.). This allowed the project to reduce overall waste significantly.
